A curious little place Alex.  Iron does turn the water a rusty brown. Could that have been the reason for the colour of the lake in your post the other day?

No, those are far away and in different mountains, lake was muddy and turning in to a swamp

A different place for a flight.  

Very interesting find Alex.    From that rusty color I'd assume it is hard water that contains many dissolved minerals.  Nice flying.

No, there's water - But this water is filled with Iron to such extend they called it Iron Water and is drinkable under doctors prescription - otherwise not advisable
