Wouldn't it be great if DJI would implement a follow the RC option.  

Thanks for posting that video. I've been underwhelmed with the ActiveTrack in my M4P to be honest. If I'm walking it tracks good enough. But when I tested it on a golf cart, it was having major difficulty locking onto it, for starters, and then it would lose me over and over and couldn't reacquire me (I "thought" it could reacquire, maybe they can't), and those types of vehicles don't travel that fast! Could it have been the lack of contrast between the golf cart and the dirt path? Perhaps. But I was expecting a little more, actually a lot more, to be honest.

I think DC Rainmaker had the best testing for Active Track and how I would use the M4P for road and mountain biking. Tested in some tough scenarios including trees too and brings up some good points on M4P expectations.

Hello there. I understand the inconvenience. Currently, the Mini 4 Pro successfully tracks usual cars and boats and might have difficulty recognizing golf carts as a vehicle.

In the second video it looks like low flying is an option that needs to be enabled.

That's the biggest issue I have with it. If a tree obscures the view for more than about 3/4 a second, activetrack bails for me pretty much all the time and won't reacquire when the car passes the tree. Hopefully gets better with firmware updates.

I have also experienced that Active track has sever issues following if any obstacles are even quite far away, and when using Active Track manual, the drone does no necessarily follow from where you have chosen.  It seems like you need a totally open area to have good use of this feature.  Let's hope future updates may fix this.

That is exactly my point. but small branches and power lines are a problem anyway.  When flying manual in areas with dense trees (as in my example) the drone will avoid the trees.  Using active track in is such areas is not going to give a good result (even if the area to move around is reasonable good (e.g. forest road - where it seems like trees even quite far away will brake the speed so much that the drone will loose you).

I therefore stand with my suggestion; that active track is best when being used in open areas (no obstacles around - I will test this later to see how good it can be.

I will be going in high altitudes and open space at the end of the week. If the weather holds out, I will test both auto and manual tracking. I really look forward to it, because I think it may be good I just hope the issues I have with my RC2 is fixed until then -  have a separate post about this.

Yes was trying to track a solitary tug boat in the middle of a river. The Mini 4 tried for a while but keeps dropping the lock on. Would appreciate if possible in future firmware to improve the focus track to recognize larger vessels.

Boat tracking exactly the same problem, it will always raise high and you lose any horizon.

I traded up from the mini 3 pro to the 4 pro thinking that active track would have been better. Really disappointing! I track things like Farm Tractors and ATV’s as i make farming YouTube videos but it loses me constantly in wide open fields. I remember my original air 1 had awesome active track, the air 2s wasn’t near as good. Seems to be getting worse with newer models instead of better
