Hi,
I am having a problem with my A2 FC after upgrading the Firmware from v2.3 to v2.4

my setup ;

s900
A2, Z15 gh4
Brand new Tattu 10.000 mah 25/50c 6s lipo x 5 (The status of all batteries is the same issue )

Hexa, when 2.3 version was loaded, was able to stay at hover for 10 minutes when lipo voltage settings standard 6s selected. This time decreased to 5 minutes at 2.4 version at standard settings.

The battery consumption is abnormal. The system immediately consumed approximately 4.0v to 5.0v once it takeoff from the ground. But once it lands, the voltage is back to normal.

In order to stay at hover for 10 minutes again I had to decrease the first lipo level to 21.3 volt.

Could you please explain the reason for this? Why I had to decrease to a risky level like 21.3 at 2.4 version, while it can fly for 10 minutes in older version at standard lipo settings?

Thanks in advance.

Here is the my main voltage diagram ;

Is it colder where you live now? These type of batteries take a hit in the cold.. You can lose a lot of flight time if you do not keep them warm.

I live in Turkey and the weather temprature was 12 °C degree during the flight. Before I experienced this and in -10 degree the performance of lipo decreased at the rate of 50%.  I cannot think of any solution. What would you suggest more ?

you need a Heatbox for your lipos, you should heat them 2-3h before on an constant 34-36°C

Did you flight in a different circumstance? (temperature, height)
I checked the update info from DJI website, some steps should be followed after updating:

Then it sounds like batteries are going.. There is no way for a new fw could cut flights times in half.

it might not be related to the MC but the batteries are new . I will try the batteries in another frame i have recently assembled (t960-330kv). i have build a lat of Professional aircraft,realy i dont have any idea :/ Do you know how many amps does S900 pull with gh4 , i will measuring at the hover .Thanks alot.

Today I used the same battery in another hexa (T960, anti-gravity 330KV, 15x5.5, tattu 10000mah 25c) the weather was 7 C degree. It flew for 20minutes without load. I mounted buzzer, which shows percentage,  to the lipo balance cable. The percentage of the battery decreased quickly and it flew at 10% in the last 7-8 minutes again.  Anyway I think there is a lipo problem, not A2 or S900. Is there any other 10000mah battery better than tattu gensace? I am very disappointed with this battery although it is new. Thank you all for your efforts.

Just hanging on this tread as its about temperature and batteries. I live in Northern Norway and will during the winter be filming Snowmobile action shots in the mountains and similar jobs. Last year I experienced just like you talk about here and what I have had long time experience with on my DSLRS in cold conditions.

On my cameras I use heat packs that I get at the sport store and duck-tape them to the battery grip. As this is outside a big holding grip and not directly at the batteries.

Does anyone have experience using packs like this on batteries or have any solutions like heat packs made for this usage?

PS: Always do like @ducpeter say about making sure your batteries are "hot"

TBH, I think 15000mah 15c packs are the minimum that I would fly a loaded s900 with. If you live in the US try troybuiltmodel 15000 packs good overall pack for the money.

Hi,

21,3V is a decent value to use in the voltage limits, and it will vary depending on the temperature you are operating the machine / batteries.
Also, when you upgrade the firmware, these values are brought back to defaults so you need to re edit them.
More important, with brand new batteries packs, you will need to make 6 or7 flights of 6 or 7mn max, in order to break in the batteries, their voltage will then rise and stabilise. From there, you can make adjustments in the low voltage protection according to your batteries nominal voltage under load.
Best regards,Fabien

I have exactly the same problem, I live in Sweden so it is not more than 10 degrees, but even with 20.000mAh batteries, the voltage value on the screen falling 3V only to lift the machine.
I use 10.000mAh 12C x2, and some 10.000mAh 25C batteries .. but they all behave the same!

I always charges them just before going out, and even "cykle" charged them last time I tried.

Can it really be because it's cold? My Phantom.3, or my friend Inspire.1 reacts not at all so much!

I also calibrated the machine against the batteries and put the first warning at 21,7V
