Watching the big ships in the River Thames.....



Always nice to track a few of the large container ships coming in and out of the River Thames.

It was moving,     probably more than 10kts too.

I zoomed in but didn't see any wake behind it but good to know it was underway at the time.

I bet it was too far away to see that wake especially with the small sensor on the Mini 3.

You make a good point about how far away the ship was.  No doubt the M2P would have been able to zoom out much further.

We were laughing yesterday morning,  as it was warm and sunny and thought we head up to the local fort for a walk and a flight out over the Thames to catch some big boats,     the river is much narrower there and yet at 1km away these ships still look massive.  Very deceiving.

I know that feeling for sure.  Many times at sea I've been deceived by a perceived distance only to find out that I was way off when looking at my onboard radar scope.
