It's known as a low light house and I think there are three lights in it which help in navigation through a tight channel.

Interesting I take pictures for a National Lighthouse museum here and except for houses I havent seen anything like it.

I was just woken up by the opening credits to "Escape to the Country".
This is where I must have seen it before.
It appears briefly in the opening shots introducing the program.

Nope. They look like buffers for large vessels to draw alongside and perhaps moor.

Not gun emplacements, on wooden pillars. Too unstable.
