Yes she does. (And don't tell anyone - but she taught me to drive just after we got married )

Yes - a bit. She'd had her licence since being 18. A short while after we married we decided to get a car, and so I was chauffeured to work for a while, before I passed my test

I passed my test at 17.   I was desperate for it.  But I see these days the kids aren't,  they are so used to be chauffeured around by the parents they dont seem to get interesting until the early 20's.

Grand-daughter will be 26 soon and has no intention of passing her test.
Grandson 19 and in no hurry - even now he's got his first job and payslip

How things change,  and up your way it would be much more useful that public transport I bet,  I can see why people in cities dont feel the need when transport options are so good.

The same was true when I got my first car,  infact when I was getting quotes to see what to buy,  I got a quote for 3rd party insurance at £5000,  the car was only £500.  So I never got the Escort XR3i.

It's no wonder there are so many people driving around with no insurance these days.

It begs belief how they get away with it though with all the ANPR cameras in police cars.    Mind you a friend of mine who was a local magistrate got pulled for no insurance,   he was furious with the cop as he was insured and had all the paperwork in the car to prove it.   The cop took one look at the certificate and pointed out the reg was one letter wrong.    He called the insurance company that had made the mistake and it was all sorted very quickly.
