I've had a bit of trouble with the Android App lately.  I own a OnePlus One phone and doesn't always connect.  It will say disconnected although works fine when using my Tablet.  I don't like using my Android either because i get lag on the visual for some reason.  It does not ask for firmware update on the tablet.  Anyway, when is DOES connect on my phone it asks me to update battery firmware even though i have the latest firmware on the aircraft and controller. I even left the new firmware files on the SD card so the bateries would get updated.

The last 2 times i have flown it with my phone, shortly after i get the 30% battery warning the app says disconnected and i lose visual completely.  I can still control the P3 although have been lucky to have it within 30m of me both times so can land it immediately.

It's very strange and makes it uncomfortable to fly thinking that the app could disconnect at any time.
