GOATS......


The poor poor goats were getting some attention.    Fun fact,  the ladies wear a GPS collar to stop them wondering off,  if they go to close to the virtual fence they get an alarm and then an electric shock.   The boys dont get the collars as they wont leave the ladies.

I dont know what they were doing,  it may have just been a battery change.

Could well be,   I didnt get too close for obvious reasons.     That shot is at 2x digital zoom.

I read that they are rechargeables,   but Ive never seen them being replaced.

Just need a few spares to switch out while some are recharging.  With the large battery they have no doubt they are lasting quite a while as they are basically on standby until it's time for a quick shock for a wandering goat.

That and the alarm that sounds if they go towards the virtual fence that seems to put them off the shock on its own.

I'm guessing after an initial shock or two the goats learned that the alarm preceded dang from being shocked.

Good one DAF and does look like it's drenching or similar.
I know a few children who would benefit from a collar

In the summer I was over there watching them and one did stray and the alarm went off and it gently builds up in sound level,   and it didn't take long for the goat to change direction.

I'm thinking one, maybe two shocks would be enough to train them to not stray too far.

When I looked into the collars they actually sell them for larger cattle too

They must have a pretty good shock effect to them as most cows have fairly thick skin.

I just went to setup the P3 for a long hyperlapse on an external battery and I cant set any longer than 5 hours,   the spec says infinity should be an option.

I found it,      in the spec it goes 1H/2/3/4/5 Infinity but on the camera it starts with infinity and then goes to 1 minute.
