Pocket 3: Car Hyperlapse Test.....

Testing out my 3d printed Pocket 3 clamp,,   seems more stable than I was expecting,   next test will be to increase from 2X to 10X.



Now the only downside Ive found with hyperlapse so far is the file sizes,    a 12 minutes clip was 10 GB.

I guess you'd have to speed this up quite a bit in post...

I was sure how the speed settings would work so the first go was at 2X,  I'll post a 10X later if it works out better.

Would be interesting to see if 2x plus 10 x in post looks better or worse than 20x in camera.

Just posted the 10X test results.  

No apparent wobble from the clamps.

So far Im quite pleased with the clamp,  its not too easy to insert but they it would be too sloppy if that was the case.

Im just 3d printing another one that will be mounted to the strap on my waist hiking bag,  so I can test hyper lapsing walks. And at waist level it may not be as noticeable.

That's a great idea.  Now you just have to practice your gimbal/ninja walk.

It looks a little strange but it does seem to help.  I've seen a couple of recent how to videos on the gimbal/ninja walk.

Im hoping for hyperlapse that it wont be that nessisary as it seems to remove a lot of the car bumps when Ive tested it so far.

I think I figured out my 2.7K issues.  It only happens if I rotate the screen to power it off.  It sets the resolution because it portrait and never sets it back to 4k.   Shame but Im not sure I can call that a bug.

So are you saying if you turn if off via the power button and then rotate the screen afterwards that it retains the last used setting?

Yes exactly,     Use the button and its fine, rotate screen to power off and it resets to 2.7k

That definitely seems like something that can be fixed in a FW upgrade.  

I keep seeing more and more overheating issues with OP3 and 90% of the users seem to be in the EU or UK.  Seems like a bad batch got through QA.  So far, knock on wood, I've not seen mine overheat.

I had one over heat so far,   it was on charge and I was trying to download over wifi 12gb.    Not that I knew that at the time

No doubt that generated an excessive amount of heat.

So far its the only time but then the temps here where Ive been using it have been under 20c.

For its really small size I think it does dissipate heat very well.

I see theres a txt file you can put on the SD card that will allow it to get hotter before it shuts down.  Seems that its set to max temp based in EU rules.

It seems it's just to keep it in the EU regulations so probably no issues at all.  but as Im not having a problem I haven't used it just in case.
