Pocket 3: Car Hyperlapse Test at 10X.....

By upping the speed to 10X and dropping the quality to 1080p the file size for this came out to 20mb,  but the qualty really suffered.  More testing required.

I like the 10x speed better than the 2x but you're absolutely right about losing quality.  Got to be a happy medium there somewhere.

The loss of quality was my fault I changed from 4k to 1080p as their 10GB file size were ridiculous,  I need to try some more tests.   I think theres also a faster setting.

Yeah, 4K drop to 1080 no doubt will cause a large decrease in quality but for sure decreases file size considerably.

I think I found a bug this morning.   If I set 15X at 4k30 and then turn it off and back on it comes back at 2.7K not 4k.

That does seem to be a bug.  Maybe DJI can fix that in an upcoming FW update.  Otherwise, that's something that will be needed to check each time before shooting.

It's caught me out twice today,  and not helpful when you're driving.

As long as I only use the power button and not the screen to turn it on/off it seems to be ok.

Sorry, I just asked that question when replying to one of your previous replies. At least you solved that "issue".  So definitely not a real bug.

It still feels like a bug,   it probably should only reset the resolution after you press continue.

DJI have confirmed they are aware of it,  but todays firmware update didnt fix it.

I meant in a future update.  Now that I'm checking I don't show a FW update being available.  Maybe it rolled out by geographic regions.

I read somewhere that it fixes the panning speed issues and sets it the same as the previous pockets.

I see we finally got a FW update for the RC.  Seems the RC is always going to be an update behind the current DJI Fly App.

FW update yes,  but it didnt update the fly app at all so not sure whats going on there.

I didn't catch that until after you replied.  Seems odd they haven't updated the  RC to include the latest version of the DJI Fly App.

I dont really understand what the path for upgrades on the RC is now,   why they didnt make it like the RC Pro is beyond me.

That's another advantage of having the RC Pro.  Unfortunately it seems it will not be made compatible with the Air 3 or Mini 4 and not for future drones.  I'm surprised they haven't announced an RC Pro 2 yet.  Maybe they are waiting to announce it with release of Mavic 4 or Air 4.

Don't think I'll be buying the RC Pro 2.  The RC2 is a big upgrade over the RC but it is still lacking in NITS, 3rd party Apps and HDMI out. It does boot slower that the RC Pro but it appears it may be compatible with future drones where the RC Pro will not be.

I had 3rd party apps on my DJI RC and I really didnt use them. infact I got so fed up with it booting to a launcher rather straight into the fly app I had to disable it in the end.

No doubt the processor in the original RC screen was not very powerful.

As long as the batteries last I'll be happy with it not supporting newer drones,    hopefully by the time we get to the Mini 5 they will have improved the strategy around the controllers.

Undoubtedly there will be many technological changes by the time the Mini 5 Pro arrives.

I'll have to wait and see as I'm really happy with the Air 3 and it does the features that the Mini 3 Pro can't.  However, because of the weight it probably would not work well for you in the UK.

Indeed,  thats the issue here,   in the EU it's not as bad with the classification system but the whole retro active implementation put the UK off adopting it.

Sad to hear that.  Maybe a Mini 4 Ultra will come along then and you can pull the trigger on that.
