I am using the Pocket 3 as a webcam on an M1 Mac with the newest MacOS and it works fine when connecting the cables, but after a few minutes, the image randomly disappears from the Mac but on the Pocket 3 it still says Webcam (30fps).
If I then reconnect the cable, it will work again for a while.
Usually I use the webcam for 30 minutes at a time and I can never get through it without it disconnecting once.

I have it connected through the regular 1/4" handle. The log files are pretty big (1gb) but the issue occurred between 9:40am and 10:30am CET. I uploaded the log files to my Google Drive

I am seeing the exact same issue with my M1 Mac and Pocket 3 as a webcam as well. Using the battery handle and regular handle.

I have this webcam problem as well. I've also had the camera disconnect from USB while transferring files as well, so it seems to be an issue with the USB connection to the Pocket 3 in general.

Same here! I even tried different cables!

A client of mine also has this problem on a M1 Macbook Pro.

Is there a fix for that soon?

That is really not a great option. It effectively means that the OP3 is useless as a web cam. Great pity, as it had become a core use for me, but I cant tolerate the recurrent disconnections. DJI need to resolve this as a priority

When I use the USB-C cord directly from the OP3 to my M1 Mac, it gets disconnected in about 20 minutes. BUT, when I use a third-party USB-A to C cord, connected through a 7-in-1 USB hub in my M1 Mac, I HAVE NO ISSUES AT ALL! I don't understand why, but you can try this workaround and let me know if that works for you. (The cord is a 65W Super VOOC Fast Charge USB-A to C from Oppo)

That is really not a great option. It effectively means that the OP3 is useless as a web cam. Great pity, as it had become a core use for me, but I cant tolerate the recurrent disconnections. DJI need to resolve this as a priority

Try to not flip the camera on your self. Instead use front camera and just use joystick to move and point the camera on yourself. For me, this was a solution.And dont use extended battery.

I solved the "freezing" problem. Camera (as webcam) freezing after a while, if you flip the camera to the "self recording" (selfie flip)  mode. The camera try to mirroring the screen and this was causing the freezing problem. Now i dont flip the screen (just use 5D joystick to point on me) and the camera work without any problems. DJI technicians need to solve the problem with the "selfie flip" freezing problem in webcam mode. I am on Macbook Pro M1. Sorry for my English

I have no problems with 60 fps. Both 30 and 60 fps works well with OBS on Macbook Pro M1

The stabilization of the Webcam function is related to macOS system compatibility. If there is any issue with this function, you can update their macOS system. MacBook Pro M1 2020 System 11.2.3 Supported. If the issue still exists, please provide us with a video for further checking.

just for curiosity, because it happened to me also. Have you checked the time to switch off screen while recording at your configuration. I am not sure, but I have put that preference to never and it is not happening now. I need to check more, but..... my 2 cts

Regarding the OBS: try to set fps on the Video tab to the camera fps or 2x of camera fps. Tested the latest version of the OBS and seems it works. Camera freezes when I set fps on camera to 30 and 25/50 in OBS but all is ok with camera fps at 25 and 25/50 in OBS. Also I prefer to set camera fps in the properties of the camera in OBS.

This worked for me so far too.....1hr in to a test Zoom and not crashed. Not tried selfie mode yet though.  Support just recommended I remove the memory card but that made no difference.  Shame they don't know the solution that's in their own forum.  I'm on a Mac.

I've had the same issue too. In Zoom meetings the OP3 would disconnect after about 15-30 minutes.
But in testing it today webcam mode works without issue, perhaps the recent May 2024 firmware update fixed the problem?

Tested for 90 minutes without a problem.

As before the UI shows the battery icon as not charging, but it stays at 97%, so it must mean the power fully comes from the Macbook.

May 20, 2024 Update: the webcam is still disconnecting!

I was on a 2 hour training as the lead facilitator.
OP3 lost webcam mode state 3 times.
Each lost connection event was about 20-40 minutes before losing the webcam mode.

The disconnection is behaving differently than before the latest firmware update. Now the OSD immediately prompts to choose file transfer mode or webcam mode. I selected webcam, then it disconnected immediately — it did this 7 times. Then I turned the OP3 off and on again, then the webcam mode worked... until it didn't about 30 minutes later. But the reconnection only took one try. So webcam mode is more erratic now than before.

Please find a fix for this so we can rely on using the webcam.

• Is it a USB bus power draw issue on my MBP M1?
• Is it a fault with the OP3 Handle?
• Is it a firwmware bug?
• Multiple issues?
  

Please escalate solving this. The viceo quality and 1 inch sensor and 20mm lens is great for webcam use!

I am using Macbook M2 Pro , my Pocket 3 also just freeze and stopped working around 20 mins during my zoom meeting. I am using the original USB C to USB C cable that comes with it. I have yet to try the USB A to USB C method as yet. Disappointed as I thought the webcam feature is really good. Sadly, this happened. Hopefully got a fix for it.

Created an account just to +1 this. Have same issues also on Max M1. With or without handle. It’s really depressing since this bug makes the camera useless for webcam and is half the reason I got it. If this issue gets fixed, it’s best camera of all time and I tell all my friends to buy it. Truly you built a great thing now pleaaaaase send us a firmware patch for this

Having the same problem. Macbook Pro with M1 pro, using a usb c to c cable during MS Teams meetings, the pocket 3 looses connection after 20-30 minutes. Haven't tried the usb C to A to dongle trick yet.

Any updates? Both my client and I are both having this issue with two different Pocket 3s. We both have Intel Macs. This was the entire reason we got these cameras and it is very disheartening that it doesn’t work, especially since I suggested my client buy this camera!!!

Same issue , webcam disconnects after 45 minutes

Hey everyone, I found a fix for this issue on my PC. I started using my OP3 as a webcam only recently and it would cut out after 30 seconds or a minute or so. The microphone audio continued to work and transmit over the call, but the video went black. Stopping/starting the video feed didn't work. Sounds like a similar situation as everyone here.

Anyway I found a solution that works for me. Change your recording mode to 1080p and 25fps. Then the sequence I use is
A) Power on OP3 and make sure recording is stopped
B) Connect USB cable to the OP3. I am just using a standard USB-C to USB-C data cable straight into my PC.
C) Select Webcam to put it in webcam mode. Note the OP3 will still say that it is at 30 fps, even though I set it to 25fps. Not sure why.
D) In the video app, start your video. For example I have tried this method in MS Teams and Doxy and Skype.

So far I have done a 70 minute call with no breaks in video or audio. I cannot speak to calls longer than that but it seems promising. Also, I was using the OP3 in the selfie mode configuration, in case that matters.
