Pocket 3 twitches in motion lapse...


Is this normal or have I got a bad unit?  The results are fine but it seem the camera twtiching for each shot a bit of a waste.

Exactly the same behavior occurs in my Osmo Pocket 1. If the video is perfectly smooth, there is no reason to worry.

I raised the same issue a few while here. It seems to be normal. It’s probably the reposition for the next photo. Might save battery to have it shift every period instead of a constant slow panning.
How is the quality of your motionlapse? Mine are somehow out of focus. When I switch to motionlapse mode, the focus point goes to somewhere beyond infinity it seems.
All other modes are perfectly in focus...

The gimbal will become temporarily powerless after every photo is captured, and it will then restart and point to the position of the next target when capturing the following picture. The gimbal movement will not affect the stability of the Motionlapse. Have a great day ahead.

Im sure they did,  its probably related to the motors used in the gimbal.

I think so.
I do have something I would like you to try (if possible).
I want to use my P3 as an overhead camera. So pointing straight down for a longer period of time.
To film my setup from above while I'm jamming.
Can you see if the P3 allows for this?
And if it remains steady instead of correcting for movement (that is not there) in such position?
(it does not have to be high up for the test, just in horizontal position, camera facing straight down).

I'm not sure if the P3 is the best camera for this, but it is small and comes with a mic. So that would be 2 checkboxes. And it would be a reason to get one

I set it up so it films straight down and it seemed fine. Later I will leave it running in 4K for some time.    Sadly one downside is that every time you power on you have to adjust the camera down, either with the joystick or the Mimo app.

Yeah, I thought that would happen. P2 does something similar.
Curious if it will keep 100% steady, or try to correct for non existent movement.

I'll try and setup a test later for you.  Need to go and find a new tyre for the hire car first.

No hurries. It will be 2025 before I'm ready for a P3 purchase
But I am curious if it can, because it will remove my need for a static overhead camera.
And a wireless mic.

It is.  This was right on the edge so they wouldn’t repair it.

I believe I am responsible for it,   or at least it's probably cheaper for me to get it done then pay them for it when it goes back.

They usually want to sell you extra insurance to cover extra damages when you hire a car,  this is a little different as it's provided by the insurance company.

Pocket 2 is the one with the most noticeable ‘head twitch’, especially at the short interval setting. Seems to be normal as the end results are perfectly smooth

DJI Confirmed above this was normal and expected from the camera.
