During my daily constitutional through The Torrs this morning, I encountered these guys preparing to launch from the bank of the river Goyt, below the Torr Vale weir.
From the footbridge further downstream, I was able to bring the Pocket2 to bear as they passed.

Nice, wouldn't want to do it though, gotta be pretty cold.

Too cold this time of year for me.

Very nice timing and capture of these daredevil kayakers.    At  least they are fully bundled up to keep warm but if they tip over they  are going to be really cold.  River has a swift current near that  footbridge.

Hi RDB.  I guess they're used to a few wettings
The river is not particularly deep along that stretch, but it does get up a turn of speed over the rocks, particularly when it's in flood after a storm.  The worst of the rush from storm  Babet has eased now, though.

I'd have to embibe a little liquid courage before making a kayak trip down that river.    Nah, I think I'd rather swim with the sharks in the warm ocean water.

Ahh, where's you sense of challenge?  Just kidding.  I see a lot of sharks out on my dives  but fortunately for the most part they are just inquisitive and not aggressive.  However, recently the bull sharks have become a bit more aggressive.  Not sure if it is lack of food or what but I definitely keep a close eye for them.  I never dive without my spear gun or my oversize knife.

I'd seen them preparing, further upstream, on my regular walk.
