I brought my Mavic Mini 3 and the OG Mavic Air 1 to shoot some alps/lake footages in Europe recently.

Through the app, Mavic Mini 3 footages darn good and sharp, but when I imported into my comp to watch thru a monitor, I noticed that they are quite artificially sharpened to a point where they became visually "messy" to look at. This is the kind of sharpness that does not hold zoom wells. Some also suffers moire cause they are too sharp.

In constrast, Mavic Air looks more organic, more pleasing visually.

Below are 4 screengrabs from both my Air and Mini 3. First two are from Mini 3.

Does anyone know how to tweak my Mavic Mini 3 to look more like its coming out from the Air?

Sadly the Mini 3 (not Mavic) does not have settings for noise reduction or sharpness,  they left that out so that if you needed that you could buy the Mini 3 Pro instead.  All about marketing really.  There is a thread about it here -  https://forum.dji.com/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=284898

That's so unwise.

Now I go around telling people that my 5 years old Mavic Air does so much better than Mini 3 lol.

Thanks for referring me to the existing thread. I will comment there.

It's all marketing to separate the products,   however if it helps your Mini 3 samples look 100x better than the Air samples you posted.

How’s the one with moire and aliasing looking much better than the other two Air samples?

I didn’t purposely fly the two to compare their quality, so the screen grabs are not a good comparison. But if you own a mavic pro/mavic air before and you look at mavic mini 3 footage, I can assure you that you will be to tell easily which comes from which.

Sharper,  better colour and definition,  the air shots looked really washed out.

Oh that’s because I have graded my mini 3 footages. Couldn’t bear the raw contrasty color. Sharp? Yeah piercing sharp… as if one watches a 4k footage on a minimised video player interface.

Mavic air footages were shot in d cinelike (another reason why I like mavic air) hence look dull but very grade-able.

Here you go: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/14OTXorEjdwEbLAwDi1eDRDi9_4W-BUIc?usp=sharing

The google drive native player doesnt do all the footages justice. But with both equally compressed/degraded, one can still tell that Mavic mini 3 footages are way too saturated/sharp/moire.

Thank you for your response. As mentioned by DA above, the DJI Mini 3 does not support adjusting the sharpness via the DJI Fly app. However, based on the video you have posted it seems that the Mini 3 footage is normal. To reduce the Moiré patterns, try the methods below:

1. Change the camera angle. Because Moiré patterns may be caused by the angle of the camera and the object, slightly changing the camera angle (by moving the camera) will decrease or change the Moiré pattern.
2. Change the camera position. In addition, moving left, right, up, or down to change the angle relationship can eliminate Moiré patterns.
3. Change the focus. Having an overly sharp focus and altitude details on detailed patterns may result in Moiré patterns. Slightly changing the focus can change the sharpness and help remove Moiré patterns.
4. Change the lens focal length. Moiré patterns can be changed or eliminated by changing the focal length of a zoom lens.
5. Use image processing software to eliminate Moiré patterns on the final image.
6. It is impossible to eliminate all Moiré patterns in all conditions. This issue can only be mitigated or removed by trying different settings and methods based on the different environments and angles.

Note: Some Moiré patterns are caused by the display, not by shooting with the camera. This kind of Moiré pattern is visible on small images and will disappear after enlargement.

I’ve been noticing some pretty strong moire effects on M4pro mainly magenta artifacts across areas of sharpness in frame, that is more of an issue in strong light . I can work around this in post production but time consuming to do so. This seems to be more of a problem on photos and not so much of an issue with video.

These are 2 unedited views in different light situations - its not really noticeable until you look at highlights but would you expect this to be normal, as there is significant moire here.
