I travel and want a windshield mounted camera for front view video. I'm looking at the Action 4 but I would rather not worry about charging batteries or having multiple batteries to last the whole trip, so I'm wondering if I can power the Action 4 via 12 car accessory port or even off the cars inverter for AC power.

Hello, there. Osmo Action 4 can be connected to a power bank or power supplier without a battery inserted. However, it is not advised. Because the battery power supply is stable, but the a third-party power supply of the power bank and power supply cannot be guaranteed, it may cause irreversible damage to the camera, so it is not recommended to use it in this way.
the camera has the abiity to do USB power, you may take out the battery or keep the battery in and use it. the choice is yours the downside will be will the camera be allowed to save footage if the power is lost, that can cause a crash to the header to close out. hope that helps
