Everyday occurrences aren't they.
There's an advertising campaign on TV sporadically with the slogan" Look Once, Look TWICE!  Think BIKE!"

That was nice of him.     Out car was written off last week thanks to a nice lady accelerating into the back of it

Yikes, that's a bit too close to an actual accident.  I see that a lot here also.  People think they own the road and don't have to follow the road signs or traffic lights.

She managed to wedge her car underneath ours and in doing so pushed up the floor pan from underneath.

I am sure you know, but in case you may have overlooked it - everyone who was born has iether died or will die. So therefore life is dangerous.
As for biking being any more dangerous than "carring" or even "trucking" - I reccommend you speak to my mother-in-law whose car was sideswiped by someone changing lanes. What he was thinking no-one will ever know. She came off lightly with a few broken bones - he didn't make it.
Moral of the story - be alert stay alive
