Another tranche of Green Belt land succumbs to the Urban sprawl.

Interesting that they leave the great belt to the left (in the first shot). Also that you can build so close to the power lines - I'm pretty sure that in Germany you have to have more distance between them and houses. Oh yes, quite a difference.

Yes, the green belt is directly beneath the High-Tension cables. To allow a so-called "safe distance" from dwellings.  I wouldn't want to live so close to them, however safe it might be. They're unsightly as well.

Blériot, that was good shootin'..I enjoyed the views very much. What a lovely area.. so much greenery too.
Those homes are going to cost a pretty pence for sure.  My town is undergoing a residential construction boom, so we expect more traffic and pollution.

The urban sprawl is gradually encroaching on former farmland and green spaces, all over the UK
And yet there are countless acres of decaying properties which could be either renovated or torn down and replaced.

Wow, that is quite the big difference in just under a year.  So sad though to see more urban expansion into green areas.

Will be interesting to see how much longer it takes to complete.  I just hate seeing so much urban expansion.  Guess I've become a tree hugger.

That is true.  I had to cut down a really old oak tree after it got hit by lightning.  Was a really sad day as that tree was over 25 years old and provided so much shade.

Bound to.  I've been up there every couple of months, but as it's progressing so slowly I didn't think there was any merit in showing six passes rather than just the two.

When we moved to France in 2006, there was a sapling no more than 4ft high self-seeded in the wire fencing at the back of the property. By the time we left in 2021 it had grown into a 4 metre high pedoncular oak.  In another corner of the plot we had a slightly smaller sweet chestnut, self seeded the same way.

We had a dozen or so apple trees, half a dozen pear, and a couple of cherry trees, some plums and a greengage. and quite a few soft fruits as well.

They were quite old, and over the years they gradually got chopped down and used for firewood. Only a couple remained of each variety. But the plums were easily regrown from roots spreading and sprouting in the lawn

There was a lot of preparatory groundwork to do first. Demolition, piling and so forth.

Well the previous establishment was a pub/carvery so the services must have been there.

Thanks Mr. B.  I think I'll give them a try in March.  Now I just have to figure out which variety of plum tree I want to plant.  I see they have European and American hybrid saplings available.

Piling isn't usually that slow though,    they piled for house next to the MIL and that only took half a day fortunately as she was going out of her mind.
