The controversial tree....

So the local council had decorated this tree for Christmas,  and there had been a large number of complaints about it,  so on Christmas morning it seemed like the right time go take the Pocket 3 and check it out.  From what Id seen on face book they must have come back and added more lights.

I think it looks reasonably inoffensive with that decoration. What is causing the controversy?

Rather slim in the low parts and thick at the top. Well, I've seen prettier ones...

Originally there was a tiny string of lights on it and they missed most of the top,  it looks like they changed the lights for more lights in a different colour but still missed the top.

My pleasure DA.  

On my Christmas dive on that old sunken ship I found a bunch of broken pottery pieces and most of the wooden keel was still visible sticking up out of the sand.  Water was really clear.  Second tank of air I went down and found even more of the boat but no gold coins.  However, I did find about 10 feet of a crusty, really old anchor chain, alas no anchor with it though.

They added lights since the original complaints it appears,   but the face book group still complained about the top of it.

It seems the price of scrap metal fluctuates quite a lot.  Since I live in the country I don't see them a lot but in my son's neighborhood a Scrapper drives through the night before garbage and trash pick-up and takes anything metal that is at the street.

It does feel like a complete cesspool sometimes. I do think that having to act with Meta is probably the worst aspect of my otherwise very nice job.

I got rid of my personal account ages ago and now rely on SWMBOd to keep me updated on the information I need to know.    BUT being involved in a couple of art exhibitions recently most people I walk to are shocked Im not promoting my work on FB and it seems like I should be.

Wow, that was a great haul for one day.  Seems scrapping is much more lucrative in the UK.

From their video they were saying prices had really dropped, but they were smart and did some separating so they could get clean prices rather than mixed.

No doubt a bit more work to sort it out by type but probably worth it in the long run.  Copper wire seems to be what the scrappers love to find and sale.

Copper here also fetches the best money,  infact Ive seen direct houses broken into and the plumbing stolen for that very reason.

Wow, that is pretty brazen to do that.  Although, I read that the big thing going on at major development sites in the US is the theft of the entire outdoor AC unit for homes being built.  Not sure what that is all about but seems to run a close second to the theft of catalytic converters from cars.

What was brazen and Ive not heard it reported for a while but there was a certain group of people that were regularly stealing the power lines for the railway.

That's really extreme.  I'm not afraid of electricity but I do have a healthy respect for it.  I hope the power lines were not energized when they went to steal it.

Hard to say what method they used as thats never reported for obvious reasons,  but when they did it regularly the chaos they caused to the railway schedule was huge.
