Hi Guys,

You read the title right, my RC2 Controller of my DJI Mini 4 Pro doesn't charge anymore since I've updated latest firmware yesterday...
It's infuriating knowing that I only had 14min of flight time and now this issue...

For a 1000 dollar "toy", I find that those kind of issues shouldn't be happening.
Knowing that New Year's eve is on it's way, I now have no way I'll be able to film the fireworks going into 2024.

I hope someone from DJI reads this and can help me, I lost complete fate in my drone as it begs the question what if there are bugs like that causing a crash mid-air.

Hi there. Thank you for reaching out and we're deeply sorry for the trouble. Please try to use a different USB-C cable to connect the USB charger to the USB-C port of the remote controller. Make sure that the charging cable is plugged in tightly, and try plugging it in again. Check the LED on the remote controller and confirm if it is in the charging state. If yes, please try charging for 2 hours to see if the power increases. Please note that the DJI RC 2 only supports PD3.0 fast charging protocol and up to 9V/3A(27W) charging. Please keep us posted. We appreciate your understanding.

I have tried to charge with 5 different cables now. It worked perfectly fine 12hours before I did the new update and declassified. I will give it another go today, however this is now my 2nd drone within 30 days of buying that is showing issues.

I’m incredibly disappointed in the quality for a product this price range. I need one for the holidays and cannot deal with another 10-15 day investigation when it’s literally a faulty drone or issues due to software bugs.

A drone bought end of November, first one had issues with sensors. Now this completely new one has bricked controller after updating.

Regardless my New Year’s Eve shots won’t happen now, which I’m quite frustrated about as the opportunity on that one had major upside.

I have not seen any email confirmation of my calls with the hotline or feedback I had given regarding this product. The air series line has been more reliable for me than the mini line-up. If I knew the amount of issues around the mini 4 pro line-up I wouldn’t have bought this one but an air 3 instead. Opportunity cost of missing events has been a big issue since getting this 4 pro…

I’m supposed to get a callback for what will happen.
I had an original case made for a new drone replacement, so I gave this one to the hotline - I am getting callback with what can be done or needs to be done. I called on Thursday 10am, did a second call on Friday since I hadn’t received a callback in 24hours as was first relayed to me.

Hopefully I get callback tomorrow / Wednesday the latest. But one thing I don’t understand is how a supposedly a  “new “ drone had no gimbal protector, controller wasn’t paired and now controller died after firmware update.

We checked that your case has escalated to the supervisor teams. They will follow up on the case and take care of your case.
Each time you send back for device for repair/ replacement, it requires a new case number so that our service center can recognize whether it is a new case or the previous case.

This thread is a little worrying as I recently did an update and my (far as I know) fully charged rc2 controller only lasted 45 mins today.
Was purchased jan 24 and previously the rc2 outlasted my 3 mini 4 batteries by a long time. I'm hoping I don't have the same issues but after charging the battery looks to still have the charge icon, and when charging the lights on the rc2 go off pretty quick.

I have the same issue as the OP. As soon as the update occurred, battery life on the RC2 dropped and will no longer charge no matter what cable I use, no matter what charger block I use. This is also my second one as the first I returned thinking it was just a defective unit. DJI needs to fix this issue.

When I press power, all 4 lights come on then turn off after 4 seconds. When I plug in to charge, no lights come on at all (after the update).

You press once and then press and hold a second time to power on any DJI product. Pressing once only displays the battery status so if it shows 4 lights it's fully charged and when you plug it in nothing's going to light up because it is fully charged

I had this problem with my brand new Mini 4 Pro RC2. What I did was to use the controller until the battery got empty, then waited for it to cool down and plugged one of these common chargers. After a few hours it started charging normally.

are you logged in to your account on the remote controller? Once you log out or reset it the LEDs are not blinking when charging, even in reality the batteries are charging. Had this issue with RC (not 2) controller, that once logged out it showed no activity when connected to charger, but after logging in it "magically" switched battery status from 50% to 100% in few seconds as before this it was connected for several hours to charger.

My RC231 used to fly my Mini 3 Pro suddenly powered off today after installing a required update. The aircraft was returning home at time. I've read through the hundreds of messages involving similar incidents. The RC will not power or or charge. I've used multiple charging cables and power supplies; it has been on various chargers for more than 8 hours and still will not turn on l, no light activate. I've attempted to power the RC on using the appropriate method and have tried a reset, holding the power button for 15 seconds. The RC is out of warranty. Other than sending the RC for diagnostic testing, what other options are available for the user. This is obviously a firmware update issue that DJI is attempting to hide from users.

Despite having had this for years with zero controller issues, battery life was great, even as it was charging phone & powering itself.
After this update it discharged very quickly. & Then would not charge at all, through different cables,  & now it does nothing with cable recharge plugged in otherwise it connects to the phone via interface cable connects to the drone, no problem...
So what has happened with this update? These videos I see are people having to disassemble, & I can't send it in, warranty is way over...
I hadn't considered it being an update, but reading others similar issues after an update, I've got to wonder just what exactly was in that update???

I've got the DJI RC-N1 (model-RC231), did a firmware update last week and noticed the battery dropping faster than usual but didn't pay much attention to it. Flew the drone a few times since then, Went for a little flight this morning and the controller turned off mid flight, luckily RTH activated. The controller was fully charged just before.
The controller is out of warranty and now I have to replace something I'm not responsible for. On top of that, I'm prepared to buy another control but how do I know the same thing won't happen to the new controller...
Nothing will probably come of this either...
