Renovation update 25
I have been painting windows and window frames. Lots of sides and layers to that job, so it takes quite long.
(drying is also slow now)
And Marcel installed the internals of the sockets today.
The rest will be done after wallpaper + painting.

Really nice update Peter.    No doubt all that detailed painting takes time as well as the wait for it to dry before a second coat if needed.  Good to see Marcel back doing a bit more electrical work.

Windows,   they look more like picture frames with the quality of the painting that good.

Yup. Today the final 'outdoor' coat that I will apply when they are still indoor.
Next job (Monday) will be some indoor paint.

It is getting colder for sure.
But the glass will be installed next Friday or Monday. And I have decided to keep the plywood on the outside, so I don't have to worry about the sealing yet.
That will come when the temp gets above 5 at night for a longer period of time.
I will first focus on the inside jobs.

Technically, we could install them from the inside and leave the plywood in place. But we want to cut the outside rods as well, so we need to measure the outside too. (which can only be done once the glass is installed).
But it's a 15 min job to remove the plywood and re-install it (with 2 man even less I think) so I will do that probably.
That way we can also judge if the windows are looking good from the outside (those seams will be most visible, inside they will be covered). So yeah, we will take it away briefly and replace the plywood when we are done.
I still have to paint the cuts from the rods, so we can't install those immediately.
Long story, but I hope it makes sense.

Oh wait, that did not translate well.
It's I think it is called a 'grille' which is a piece of wood that mimics the old way they used to overcome the limit in glass size they could make when they wanted bigger windows.
So they had these wooden pieces that were creating smaller panes where pieces of glass would be fit in.
Nowadays it's usually one big piece of glass, sometimes with dividers 'inside' the double glass and you just stick the wooden grille on top.
We used to have real ones in the top windows, but now we made the fake ones.
But still with this divider in between, so you can't see through the grilles.





(not our window btw)

So the aluminium inside is just 'fake' (the glass is in one piece) but the wood outside mimics the old way.

I hate painting windows. We opted for UPVC last time.
