That is quite the railway station.   Must be a big hub for the trains?

most of the shots of this yard were closer but it's so huge you can't get all of it.

It is one of the biggest train yards I've ever seen.  I think it is even bigger than the huge CSX training yard in Atlanta and it is a monster in size.

It's not the the largest in NYC. Wikipedia says it's the Sunnyside trainyard in  Queens..

It's a mile wide by about 1,400 ft from what I can see on Google Earth.

Wow, that rail yard is eating up a lot of real estate.  I guess with all the commuter trains in and around NYC they need something that large.

There is a total of 28 Train yards in NYC.

I never realized or thought NYC would have that many train yards.  I can just imagine how many people are employed at all those yards.  I guess between Amtrak and the MTA they are major employers.
