is there a way to tighten up the sticks on the Inspire RC, mine seem too slack,.

Obviously i wouldn't recommend you to open your RC but
I've got already opened remote controller of phantom 2v+ here, so thats how you tighten your sticks:

tighten this scews, and you are ready to go

don't really want to open the RC as this will most probably void my warranty,
