Dairy was the main farming in the are now many of the grazing land has been taken over by Vinyards.
The ready supply of water is the key.
Especially in the driest state in the driest continent.

It was taken  a year ago we stayed a week or so before Christmas 2022.
we got some interesting ruins  so more to come

Yeah, water would be like liquid gold, no doubt.

You are right it is huge when easterly winds drive through the waves are big enough to capsise small craft and canoes.
In the late 80s a scout group attempted to cross the lake by canoe a storm swept in and several scouts drowned .
When I took the footage we had a large flood from NSW - to Goolwa many homes were destroyed.
