Weather was good until right before noon when the rain rolled in once again.  Oh well, at least I got to see the sun come out for a couple of hours for a change.

Exactly, plus you can usually brush off a light dusting from your windshield and not need a scraper.

I remember one time when I was stationed at the Great Lakes Naval Base (just north of Chicago) there was a lady in her driveway trying to clear ice off her windshield.  After a good laugh I went over and gave her a hand with my super duper scraper.

The icing of streets and cars is out of hand. Last year we didn't get any snow. As a result the stores didn't carry much salt. This year they are out. Everyone is scrambling for it to melt the ice,  and no one has any.

That makes for a really sad situation.  It's a shame because both Walmart and Home Depot here carry 40 pound bags of salt.  Made for use in salt pool chlorinators or water softeners but it is salt nonetheless.  Too bad those stores aren't carry any in your area.

It's funny because in the winter that's their money maker salt and shovels.

Just poor planning on their parts.  Their procurement department really dropped the ball on this.

I'm sure you're right about that.  I don't see them going out of business but they don't want to take too many hits to their financial outlook.

Last year we had no snow. which is unusual. They probably thought they could use last year's reserve. The salt gets old and hard if you don't use it.

Meteorology is a tough career for sure.  Down here I find them to be wrong more often than right in  forecasting.  I guess that's why I like to call them Weather Guessers.
