Does the Osmo Action 4 support the HLG profile?
If not is there any plan to support it?

Thanks

Hi there. Thank you for your feedback. The Osmo Action 4 does not use common standards such as HLG. The videos captured in the normal video mode by Osmo Action 4 are high dynamic range videos and there is No separate HDR mode. Action 4 uses DCG HDR, an HDR technology on the camera sensor. The footage shot in normal video mode has a high dynamic range effect. Without losing details in the highlights, the details in the dark will also be recorded well.

Ok thanks for the clarification,
Any plan to support HLG?
Otherwise I wait to buy the next Action 5 hoping it will support HLG HDR…

As the camera already supports HDR as standard, what is the reason for wanting HLG?

DCG HDR is not a standard and it is just a way to improve a little bit the exposure of the photgram...

With the HLG it is possible to save in the video file all the informations that using a narrow space like REC. 709 would be lost.

In very very simple words if you don't save the video using a correct format you are losing all the extra informations that are needed to reproduce correctly scene with very high dynamic range...

He is not satisfied with the price of the camera and wants features which will keep pushing the price up (...sarc...)

On a positive note, you can get the Ronin 4D for a few thousand bucks which supports HLG.

Actually I don't have the Action 4 and I'm not considering to buy it until it supports a correct HDR format

Perhaps an action camera is not what you require, does any other action camera support this?

could you please consider it as a feature request for a next firmware update for the Action 4 or even for the next Action 5?

D Log M does a pretty good job if you want a flatter profile.

D-Log is excellent, but if I use it, I have to color grade every single clip...
unfortunately DJI provide a LUT "to convert"  D log in REC.709 only

If they would provide a LUT that "converts" in BT.2020, It would be great.
When I don't want to "lose time" I could use the LUT.
