Hi Actioners, anyone has display orientation issues with DJI MIMO app in the live view as well as playback mode on iPhone (iOS)? Screen orientation lock is off and you stiill get what you see below. You can also see the iconns in the app are in the right orientation, and yet the live video display is rotated 90 degrees, so this is definitely a bug in the app. In playback mode, display is OK with phone in upright mode and on its left side, but becomes upside down when phone is also rotated upside down and on it's right side. This is on the latest firmware and software and I have reported the issue but it seems no one is taking this seriously. Thanks in advance for the help!

Hi @DJI Gamora, any updates on this topic so far? Thanks!

Hello. After checking this situation with our relevant team, we can confirm that this phenomenon is normal behavior of the app, as it will fully display the image with no relation to the DJI Action 4's orientation or the mobile screen's orientation settings. I hope this information helps.

Seriously? Phenomenon is normal? Here I am holding my phone in the portrait mode, and the menu is displayed correctly but the live display is rotated 90 degrees?
Before the last DJI app update, the display was fine, and the live view display orientate correctly, even though the display is small (landscape view fitting to width of portrait mode). So this is definitely a bug which was introduced during the Dec app update.

I really don't know how to convince the DJI team anymore. Sorry, but perhaps DJI team should just declare that the app only works in landscape mode, rather than stating this is normal phenomenon, which is really ridiculous. Please take a look at the picture below again.

Are you serious this is normal?

You're most welcome. However, I believe there was a misunderstanding regarding this situation. To provide further clarification, I've confirmed your claim regarding the orientation of the image which can be viewed vertically on the previous version with our engineers. This previous phenomenon is indeed a bug and the latest version has rectified it. I hope this information brings clarity.

Well, that's not good news then! The previous version (Nov '23) was not a bug.
I think your engineers are still not getting the perspective from the user. If the phone is held vertically, I would expect the view display to be oriented upright (following the DJI camera) even though it may be smaller, rather than trying to maximize the phone display and end up being rotated 90 degrees. It seriously does not make sense to have the icons upright and the view on its side.
I do not have this problem on the GoPro....live view always follow the camera's orientation no matter how I turn my phone.

I'm a new user as of today and was mystified why the app on my phone doesn't follow the rotation of the phone - it always displays in landscape. I found this thread and agree with the OP. I ditched a GoPro 12 for the Action 4 as it was supposed to be better but I've not even taken it outside and find this issue!
It's a major PITA as my phone will be mounted in a cradle on my motorcycle and be multi-taking as a GPS and a music player in upright portrait mode. Does DJI seriously expect me to pull over and rotate the phone cradle 90°just to use the app or even worse, try to do it on the move? FFS, come on DJI, I bought your camera because it's supposedly the best and it appears that the orientation within the app used to follow the phone but now you call that a bug that you've "remedied". Screwed it up more like!
I'm definitely not a happy new user and haven't even hit the record button yet. Come on and please sort this out with a quick new firmware release! Thank you.

FYI, they keep saying "Nothing wrong" even though what they shared (graphical illustrations of  display orientation) do not match actual app's behavior.

Keep saying this is to maximize display but what's the use if you are holding your phone vertically and the display is rotated? It's just saying that you need to hold your phone in landscape mode no matter what.

When I bought the camera in Oct 2023, that version of firmware did not have this issue until the update in Nov '23.

I gave up.....so many times I had brought this up and nothing's done.

I've already lost money by selling my GoPro 12 for this. I watched loads of YT reviews and this issue never came up. Strange or else they were "incentivised" not to mention it....
I should've pursued my research on the Insta360 Ace Pro but thought that DJI were the top player so went for the Action 4 but it seems not to be the case.
Do you have the details of the APK version that came with your camera? I'd like to give it a shot as this is somewhat of a showstopper for me. Cheers

DJI understand the concern but his has been around day one of the DJI Action  camera 7 years I believe. I rarely use the App, for reasons of, Not perfect.

Unfortunately, no. Sorry about this...not sure if they publish this in their archives....you just need to look for the FW version before the Nov update.

Yup. I went back to October 23 version on the APKPure website and installed it but same orientation issue. I suppose I'll just have to put up with it and view Spotify e.t.c in landscape. Thanks to eveyone for their feedback

That's strange...is it possible it's related to both FW and app?
