An early morning at the falls......

This area is known as Beeleigh Falls as theres a man made water fall of about 2 feet.

The river was converted to be used as a canal and this keeps the water level up,   I'll post a better shot of it.

It's a very similar layout looking at the maps for Newark.   The weir there would be the equivalent of the   falls I just posted.

There a runoff from the Peak Forest canal into the river Goyt at Whaley Bridge, like you describe. But it's dry just now as the canal level is low.

Looks to be a lovely day.

We didnt get any snow, that was just some frost.   The place in in Langford which is on route to the MIL house.

This is because of the ongoing works at Toddbrook dam.  The reservoir feeding the canal system is almost empty - just enough to keep the canal open.

Well there virtually no commercial traffic, mostly leisure. And almost none of that in the winter months.
The main problem is the 16-lock flight at Marple.  That been closed for quite a while except for specific days and times.  And they're getting on with extensive maintenance there too.

Are there many live aboards along that stretch,   its getting more popular round here as its so cheap.

There are three that I've seen. But they're only allowed, I think, 48 hours before they have to move on.
Just how far they have to move, I don't know. And then there are some who own moorings at various points. But they generally have a house nearby too.

I think it depends on what status you want to have,  if you have a residential mooring you can stay as long as you like but you have to pay council tax,  but if you use the leisure moorings you cant stay too long in one place but you avoid the taxes.

Indeed it was.  I can't wait for the rains to stop and here so I can enjoy clear sky days and plenty of sun.  I'm starting to lose my tan.

Can't do anything about the tan today with all the clouds but  with 28C temps I'm going to enjoy a dive and making some bubbles.

Going to check out a sea side town about 120 miles north,  then theres a light house and windmill to check out.

I hope you get some great weather for that trip.  Sounds like you have already identified a few targets of opportunity to film.  

Your sunrises are always so colorful and beautiful David , do you use any filters in your post work? are those raw images?  you truly have a good eye for the sun

Ive got a short list,  dont want to do too much in one day as its 3 hours each way of driving.   But last night I went through and recored all the parking spots I want to use,  and with apple I can put them in a note and then when I tap on it the car will get the address and off we go.

Thanks Ms Ivy,   typically I shoot AEB3 and then under expose the image (thats the key) and then in post I have the option to blend the images and then I can add some foreground exposure just to bring the land into better visibility.

Just got my new Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra yesterday.  It's not a huge upgrade over the S23 Ultra except for a few AI features.  It does seem much faster.
