Just wondering if the ‘native’ sharpness setting is 0 or -2. I would like to record video at the least processed setting and add sharpness (and NR) in DV Resolve.

I’d like to know that -2 doesn’t add any kind of softening. So my question is which is the least processed setting, ie 0 or -2.

-2 is the least processing, does not add softening, just does not add sharpness at all)

Hi there. Thank you for reaching out. Adjusting the sharpness and noise reduction parameters is supported via the DJI Fly app via Camera view > ... > Camera > Style > Sharpness/Noise Reduction. Setting a larger value in the parameter will result in a better performance in sharpness or noise reduction. For instance, you need to increase the ISO value for exposure in the night shooting environment. Since the higher ISO setting amplifies the amount of noise in the image, you can set a larger value in the noise reduction parameter in order to reduce the noise levels. A higher value of sharpness increases the contrast between edge pixels, giving a clearer appearance of the image. Hope this helps.

Thanks for your answer. I am aware of the location and purpose of the sharpness and noise reduction controls but just wanted confirmation that the least processed (native) settings are -2 rather than 0. This is because I’d like to add my own sharpness and noise reduction in post production, depending on the specific circumstances at the time.

So what is the best sharpness setting if not post processing? Presumably DJI think it should be 0 but plenty of folk recommend -1. Presumably -2 is too soft unless sharpening in post?

Thank you for the clarification. We can adjust the Sharpness Range to -2 to +2 (-2, -1, 0, +1, +2) and the Noise Reduction Range to -2 to +1 (-2, -1, 0, +1). Hope this helps.

Sorry but you haven’t answered the question about the native (least processed) setting. Yes, I am aware of the range of settings, thanks.

Sorry for the misunderstanding, Jerry. Are you referring to the default settings? If yes, 0 is the default setting. Hope this helps.

He is not asking what the default setting is. He would like to know which setting results in the LEAST amount of processing (i.e. applied sharpening). Is it 0 or -2?

Best! /M

Thank you! At least someone understands my question!

I suspect there's quite a bit of sharpening added even to -2. I would like 0 to represent no added sharpening at all, with perhaps a scale of 0-5. I think a more technically minded DJI rep needs to answer this one though.

I do not see a sharpness setting on the rc2 controller with the mini 4 pro for still images, where is it?

Hi there
In video mode, setting path: DJI Fly image transfer page click "..." > Shooting > Style > Sharpness/Noise Reduction.
Try it. Hope it's helpful for you.

Hi there,
thank you for reaching out.

For confirmation, this option is only available using video mode. To use, please enter the camera view in the app, go to Camera view > ... > Camera > Style > Sharpness/Noise Reduction. We will take this feedback and pass it along as a suggestion to the relevant team for further consideration.

Thank you for your understanding.

I would also love to know the answer to this question.  Which setting gives you the image straight out of the lens to the sensor with zero artificial sharpening or softening?

I wonder why nobody answer this, except the /M in one reply (I assume manual??)

Doesn't anyone want to think logically? Is there or isn't a minimum processing, the minimum possible is "-2", and you can't do less. Or do you think that at "-2" additional blurring is done?

Just for reference……
+2 Maximum sharpening
0.  Default level of sharpening
-2 lowest level of sharpening (no sharpening)

Basically you want to use -2 if you want the best image for any kind of post processing.  -2 in the sharpening setting won’t add any additional blurring to the basic image - that’s what the noise reduction setting is for.
