I've been shooting in D-Cinelike with the Mini3Pro recently, as an experiment.
First lesson I learnt - shoot in H.265 rather than H.264, since Davinci Resolve needs it.
I've tried 5 Free LUTs for D-Cinelike from a couple of sources, and the results are bizarre.
Maybe because I don't fully understand what I'm doing
But I've had much more satisfactory results when discarding the LUTS and manually
grading the colours myself in Davinci.
Any critique or advice welcome........

The manual grading looks better for sure,  a little warm maybe.

For the Luis you downloaded,  were they rec 709 luts, they get you back to a fairy flat profile that then lets you add your extra saturation etc.

I don't know, TBH. Four were from a free site recommended by DowntownRDB, the other was from Shutterstock.  They all seemed to give curious tints.

I think I overdid the saturation control when I did the manual one.

Well yes.
But shooting in D-Cinelike and then colour grading (whether by LUT or otherwise) just ends up lie what you might get  on a nice sunny day anyway, shooting normally.
I don't really see the point.

Manual looks really good Mr. B.  Sorry the LUTs didn't work out for you.  At least they were free and only cost you a little experimenting time.

The point is for more dynamic range,  so in 8bit mode you might loose information in the shadows on a bright day, but with dlog you get more data and then can extract the shadows as well as not clip the highlights,  its a bit like shooting raw on stills camera.

If you watch the first part of Kens video he gets some really nice grading with just the standard footage and he runs through the things he changes.

Thing is, the curve is supposed to level off, not get steeper

Thanks.  I guess I just anticipated learning the drums faster or maybe I'm just too much of a perfectionist. I really just need to keep telling myself that the drums are a hobby.

I think you did a great job with manual color grading Mr. B. This is something I ought to study myself more, especially if the filming projects are coming up in the way they are arriving now at work.

I did slightly tip my toes into it earlier on in my current project. I am making a video advertising my employer's sauna. I was told to try to make the image in the sauna feel warm and cosy, so I used some LED lightning with some warmer light settings and adjusting the white balance on my Pocket 2 to make the picture have warmer colour temperatures. However, I noticed that I had accidentally shot some scenes without the said settings, so I attempted to adjust the image colors in the post manually. Not entirely sure yet if I ought to adjust them more for those scenes, but I guess it is better than before - just need to take care of not overdoing it as to make the image look completely unnatural.

It certainly is easy to make things look un-natural when adjusting colours.
Getting them to look bright, deep and sharp (and natural) is not that easy, I've found

It is an art in itself, isn't it? But once you master it, the results can be truly stunning.

It seems to me that you don’t quite understand why LUTs are needed. If you shoot with a flat profile, then you can do without them, just make corrections in the editor. But if you want to change the color scheme, you definitely need LUTs. Have you watched my videos https://forum.dji.com/forum.php? ... p;page=1#pid3267897
That's where I used LUT to give a certain mood and immersion in time. It's called color grading
