I was coming home from work (we have a 2 day per week office visit policy these days, thtoday was one of those two), heading West, when I saw the nice cloud pattern covering the entire sky. SInce they promised some rain later this week, there was a certain possibility that the pattern would stay for an hour or so (don't ask me why, it's just how it is here).
Anyway, came home, and soon my "five-minutes-before-sunset" alarm went off. Batteries were at about 66%, I figured it should be ok for a trip to Bard Lake.
The most interesting towering cloud turned out to be on the South-Eastern part to of the sky, North was almost bare, and there were some colors both East and West.

2. Battery started getting low, started flying home, stopped in the middle



3. Last pano, just about 50ft above my driveway. At this point M3C was beeping non-stop, even though there were veritable 2-3 minutes on the juice gauge.

It's winter here, which in SoCal means "rains", so higher humidity than usual, hence more chances of clouds.

We have rather too many clouds at the moment. A bit of blue sky would be nice

That happens here as well. When it rains, it's typically overcast from horizon to horizon. And when it doesn't, there are no clouds at all.
So it's those precious transitions from one to another when you do get some shootable patterns, at least when there are no winds, which is a separate story.
