Speaking of altitude changes, I've been over hill and dale this morning for almost 3 hours and I'm exhausted.

Nice,  I need to do more hills,  were thinking of a lake district vacation in May and it could kill me if I dont get the practice in.

That's a bit sad to hear.  Without the gloves your fingers are going to get mighty cold in the mornings until mid to late Spring if I'm figuring your weather history correctly.

Indeed,  its not uncommon to get a little bit of snow in February here,  but it feels a little too mild for that at the moment,  we have daffodils in flower in the garden now even though we have been highs of 12c.

Lake District is definitely a thigh-burner.
Mrs.B is from there, as i think you know.
In our early years together we used to go there a fair bit.

Well it you put any credence into the ground hog prediction he is saying it will not be an extended winter.   I thin that event is all a hoax anyway but researchers says he has been accurate 44% of the time.  However, it also means he has been wrong 56% of the time.

One great place we stayed was a Heaves Hall Country House hotel near Kendall - but that was a good 15 years ago when we took MIL back to visit family.
The last place we stayed at (just after the car crash in Scotland) was Ennerdale Lodge at Cleator Moor.

So Kendall was be a good central spot?   I think we'll probably do an AirBnB for the actual accusation,  but it's figuring out the schedule to wainwrights to have a crack at.

Well Kendal is more Westmorland than Cumberland. I guess it depends just where you want to concentrate your visits.

  Nothing like that. Here's the route we would take (from Mrs.B's grandmother's house) to the hilltop.  You'll notice the Ennerdale Lodge I suggested to you yesterday, where we stayed during our last visit to the area.  Sadly, Mrs.B is no longer capable of climbing hills.
