I didn't land there. It was a little sticky but I had to get the road underneath it.

Great shot and what a maze of wires and cables to challenge a drone pilot.

No doubt about that.  Definitely get some butt pucker factor with all those obstacles.

I definitely got some butterflies before flying this job. There were 17 sets of high power lines that had to be crossed for  this inspection.

Wow. Nice playground for pro fpv pilots ;-)

You are a much more proficient pilot than me as I think I'd have passed on that job.

I almost did, but I learned allot. The energy Company was helpful. They gave me a map of the power lines with elevations and offered an escort. I think that would have made me more nervous, so I took the maps with elevations and thanked them. They also gave me facts on power line proximity and EMI which alleviated much of the fear.

Sounds like you had it all planned out.  No doubt you had your spotter there to give a hand also.

I had a visual observer that is also a part 107 pilot. She is my assistant for commercial shoots.

I think it helps with FAA Authorizations. I always mention that I have a visual observer with Prt 107 that will watch the drone and keep an eye on air traffic. I have put in over 20 manual authorizations and they have never turned me down. I feel more comfortable and can concentrate on the shots and footage.

No doubt that helps with the FAA authorizations and also nice that it frees you up to concentrate on the shot.

This is the ugly part near the landscape of that power plant. The wires radiate out in every direction. The electric company gave me a map of their power grid with wire elevations so I could capture the roads safely.

We do have the high voltage lines above the ground, but they are very neatly organized.
But not the regular power cables (not anymore)

These originated 100 years ago from this Plant. Thomas Edison helped build that plant. Hopefully they will modernize it soon.
