Believe it or not I made a few notes for myself to test out some of these.

Maybe it's like varnish and you need them to be odd numbers.

It's a monocoat. So just one coat.

If it's a proper varnish then the old wives tails will say 3 coats minimum. Always odd numbers and 13 or more is better,     those damn sailers have a lot to answer for.    Ive been using Le Tonkis for a while now as it covers any other brand of varnish for repairs really well.

I don't think this is.
It's linseed oil with color and some additives.

Probably. They don't tell.
It's a 2 compound thing with a hardener.

Now that sounds like an unusual product,    boiled linseed will set hard on its own whereas unboiled doesnt.   But through in a 2 part system and all bets are off.

I have been suggested this combination by a furniture maker who uses it for all his bathroom pieces.
(that is his business) and I kind of trust him when he has been using it for a long time, since he only sells high end (very expensive) stuff and I have known him for 25+ years now (he is our keyboardist)
The 2nd coat was some kind of bad smelling oil too. Very chemical. But it turns out hard and matte, so that is perfect.

It smells horrible, but I like it a lot.
Especially after giving it a bit of a sand with 400grit paper.Super smooth.
