Fun video to watch. I never could pick out the alpha cow (if there was one). The younger calves seemed to have a ton of energy.
I believe there is a pecking order among the cows, but its more like who has the most seniority in the herd, rather than who is alpha, there is always a bunch of stubborn cows who refuse to follow the heard back to the barn.
We have learned it easier to bring the cows in with the drone than having to round em up with the ATV.
the cows see the drone over head and seem to know its time for return home.
I would dare say in the winter most farmers try to keep their cows near run-in sheds or feed barns to protect the younger cows from the elements, there has been a lot of winter calves this year. and a few more mamma cows are about to give birth, these are not my cows these were my neighbors herd we had rounded up in the late fall. |
