We do have a license or two but have found Pix to be a bit better for teaching as it has a good balance of simplicity vs. tweakability/complexity w/o being a black box. But I hear ya.

BTW the screenshot you posted doesn't look like it is showing the functionality in question, namely using a geoid separation raster to get to orthometric heights...

Yes you are right, it is needed to scroll the menu to transform from WGS84 to the desired combination horizontal+vertical.
