The closest I got to the Gap.....  


Sadly I hant realised how close I was to the Syacamore gap as we stopped here,     if I had known I would have paid a visit,   but now the sycamore is no more.   Or at least they are deliberating who will get a table from it.    The valley in the hils in the distance is the Gap.

Nice view towards the iconic gap. I've heard nothing about whether the culprits have been dealt with by the courts yet.

The last I heard was they had seeds from the tree that they had taken to the NT rare plant centre to try and grow,  the 16 yo will not face charges,  and the trunk is out for the public to decide on what happens to it.

Oh and the tree might still be alive.

Lovely rural views.  

Nice spot. A shame about the tree. Funnily I didn't know about it when I searched in vain for Winshields Wall on my 2021 Northumberland/Hadrian's Wall trip.

You're welcome DA.  Yeah, it seems lately we could have all used much better weather.  I'm hoping Spring brings us less rain and winds.  Only 23 more days until 1st day of Spring so I'm hopeful.

Between the winter and the areas I've been going to I miss the pretty landscapes. These solar inspections are taking me to the older densely populated areas which are not picturesque.

That's a shame. At least the neighbors where you are care about these things. I'm afrais where I live no one would even know about it. People are so wrapped up in there own lives that they don't even notice nature.

yes, although they have since managed to graft some of that tree into good roots and some of the seeds have grown.    The tree was in the Robin Hood film.

It is a bit like the chestnut tree that was in the book of Anne Frank, ok, that was not vandalized, but they tried to keep its DNA alive by planting her fruits.

They could have done better than that surely,   here the national trust has saved alsorts of trees like the apple tree where newton discovered gravity and even the tree under which Henry VIII and Anne had "fun"

This one was cut down by vandals but they still managed to save twigs from it and regrow them.
