I read somewhere that Pop-up imitations were selling the same food here and there.

After doing a little googling it seems there were a few in the southwestern part of the US.

It seems many US restaurants continue to be on the brink of failure.  Surprising as most are large chain restaurants.

They were probably intent on saturating easier markets first

For what I remember, they tried to set their foot on Iceland but found out it wasn't financially viable.

That is probably true, the distant location, the cold environment and being geographically surrounded by water all around cause challenges and lead to various costs.

My one visit to Sweden, we needed a rest-stop on the Motorway, heading north. There were two eateries - one of which was McD, almost inevitably.

Compared to the McD, the Max is a bit cheaper and quite a bit better.
