Hi,

I'm from UK and I was on a vacation in spain. I was flying mini 3 in Madrid near a palace. The drone was confiscated by police and they took all my details.

I think it was a mistake on my part to not know the rule. I was very new to this.

Would they fine me now? How much could it be? Is there a possiblity of getting the drone back anyhow?
If someone has been in a similar situation specially in spain, please comment and let me know.

Thanks.

You should post this on MavicPilots as well ..... as a warning to others.

Hi there. Thank you for reaching out. We're sorry to hear about this unfortunate experience. In this case, you need to coordinate with the local authorities to check the best option for you to claim your unit. Drone operators are required to consult the local aviation authorities to check if it is safe to fly in the current airspace before each takeoff, and comply with them before and during each flight.

We kindly advise that you visit the following website to view the map of GEO zones in Europe:

First rule of flying in EU, your drone should be registered and you should have operator ID put somewhere on the drone, when it falls on someones''s head, they should know whose toy it is

Are you talking about Madrid capital? That area is CTR and therefore flying drones there recreationally is completely prohibited. To do it professionally, many requirements are needed, including coordination with several of the affected airports.

To use the drone in Spain, it is very important to verify on this website whether it is possible to do so without restrictions or not:
