The work to this new house had been stalled for some weeks and on passing by the other day the crane was up and I couldnt resist sending the drone up for a quick shot.

I can't get over how close they are allowed to build. That short distance would not meet fire codes here nor allow a builder to get a construction permit.  

Looks like the builders are trying to hide the waste in next doors front garden

There was a tiny house there that looked like it was hit by lightening,    they demolished it and buried the bricks under the grass in the garden.

That one just had a front and rear extension built,   and looking at it they got a nice EPDM roof too.

Cheers DT.     As per your firecode mention,    these are all brick buildings so fire doesnt spread in the same way to timber construction.  We have more issues from gas leaks exploding than fires spreading.

I understand the brick building but what about the wood roof supports and roofing material.  That is usually how fire will hop from one house to another is via the roofs and another reason they increased distances between houses in most municipalities.

They tend to be covered in tile or slate,  so if they catch the weight causes them to collapse inwards.  For terrace houses they build internal walls inside the loft space these days,  in the past they didnt always do that.

Good to know.  Seems metal roofs have really caught on well here.  Also the metal shingles are a current fad.

Jeyes' Fluid was pretty effective, but I'm not sure that's still available.

My preferred method would just be to run the pressure washer over the area so it was also clean,  but the MIL is really anti washing paving for some reason.

It's probably at a lower concentration these days than the original.
We used to buy it in 1 litre tins for moss treatment.

From memory, it takes several days to turn the moss from green to brown. Works better on dry days too.
