Tried to get a new out and back home record with the Air 2S... Got pretty far out there but didn't make it back.

Wonder why 1. you didn't land earlier on a road and 2. why you waited 1+ years to go find it. But otherwise: 30000ft are pretty impressive...

You got quite the distance our of that flight.  I'm thinking at the first Low Battery warning I'm heading back.  Good news is you retrieved the drone.

1. Mainly, I just wanted to get it as close to me as possible. I knew I could drive/hike to pretty much anywhere out there with relative ease.

2. Did I mess up somewhere in the video? I got in the truck and went to find the drone as soon as the screen went black and white. The drone was only sitting there for about 10 to 15 minutes before I found it.

I thought that the signal would have been a lot less at 30000 feet. I was pleasantly surprised.

Yeah, whenever I do range tests, I usually turn back either at the first warning or 55% battery and end the flight back at Home Point with around 15% to 20%. I thought I'd try pushing it a bit farther this time. I didn't even realize I was at 48% when I turned around.

This time, I got a bit too brave with it. But recovery wasn't too bad at all.

Then I misinterpreted "December 2022 to February 2024"  (if I remember correctly)...

Ah... I was going for more of something you'd see on a head stone or memorial.

I always try to fly out with the drone into the wind so at least on the return flight the wind will be at the drone's tail.  Like you, my goal is to land with 15-20% battery remaining.  Bottom line is you got the drone back.
