Absolutely spectacular captures.      From the looks of the skies in a couple of those shots it appears you just did beat the storm.

Yes, it was a close-run thing with the light.  I was there for sunrise, but it took a bit longer for the sun to pop over a nearby hill in the east; I took the shots as soon as that happened.  I probably had about 10 mins of good light before the cloud closed in.  It ended up being the only sunny period in the whole day.
