Hi there. What error did you receive? Have you tried downloading and playing them with your phone? How many players have you tried so far?

It's video recorded on the Dji Mavic 3 classic drone.

I've tried QuickTime (does not work) but that is not the issue here. I want to be able to preview the files in finder. It works fine In Final Cut, so the file is fine, but it won't preview in finder.

What video mode did you record in,  some modes like 10bit in H264 will just crash quick preview as they are terribly supported.

Without doubt OP has filmed in h.264. Always the culprit!

I do wonder why they even let us record in that format as it's next to useless.

Thank you for the update, Andreas Martin. Please check if the video has been recorded in H.264 like other users mentioned above.

Yes it is recorded in h.264. I have tons of other files in h.264 that previews with no problem at all, but the ones from the drone doesn't.

You've likely filmed the other footage in 8bit, which h.264 can handle.

To salvage your footage, you need to use Handbrake, handbrake.fr and convert the footage to h.265 and you will have your footage.

Moving forward, ensure that you always film in h.265 and you won't have any playback issues.

Thank you for confirming, Andreas Martin. Can you please provide us with a sample video for us to check?

Yes I filmed in h.264 10 bit, but still - shouldn't it work anyways? I'm on a M2 Mac Studio with the latest update. I think it should be able to preview a file.

Thanks. I will record in h.265 in the future. I had issues with h.265 I the past so I guess that's why I set it to h.264.

No it shouldn't work,  its a terribly unsupported format,  for 10 bit you need h265.

It's not about your Mac Studio's power, it's the codec. You're asking the codec to film in a format that it simply doesn't support.

All the power in the world won't cram 64 bits of data into a 32 bit architecture, if you need something to explain what I mean.

Your Mac will have zero issues playing h.265 I will assure you of that.
