In vine-growing areas, you'll often see a rose bush planted at the ends of each row.
Roses were planted at the end of rows as an early warning system for the winegrower. They attract insects like aphids before the vines. They also get fungal disease like black rot and mildew before the vines do.

Yes! What we call Japanese Knotweed.
That's a seriously invasive plant causing damage to buildings.
Difficult to eradicate, too.
