Great scene.

Nice. I usually hate this time of year when things aren't green and skies aren't blue, but drone fever kicks in and you see there's more fun to be had.

Counting the days for less wind and more greenery.

I bet the wild life is good there.  

We don't get as many birds as we used to. For some reason the deer has swam over from NJ and they haveno predator. No one can hunt so they are multiplying like crazy. Whatever the parks department does isn't stopping them. So lots of deer.

Female deer attain sexual maturity the same year they are born. Male deer attain maturity the second breeding season after birth, or at about 18 months. Any receptive female deer that does not become pregnant will cycle back into estrous (heat) in about 28 days and will mate again. This is why they multiply so quickly.

That is interesring that's a quick cycle. I never knew that.

I only learned that about 6 months ago when I started reading up on deer and spoke to a couple of the local Game & Wildlife Officers.  I was trying to plan the size of the deer feeder that I would install on the backside of my property.  I actually went a little big.  However, so far I seem to have between 6 - 8 deer feeding regularly.

They have been fixing them injecting them and feeding them things to stop the overpopulation but nothing is working.

Enjoyed the shots and the nature lesson. Seems we too are experiencing a deer boom. Probably wasn't helped in our case by the bloke who flattened his deer fence with one of those large round bales. The deer all took off.

Well at least they don't hurt much. There are worst animals you could be overpopulated with.

and that's why we're still overpopulated. One hunting season would fix this. It is too populated for hunting though.

Yeah, that would pose an issue for an authorized hunt.  Oh well, at least they don't reproduce as fast as rabbits.

Same here, and technology keeps allowing them to build where they couldn't before.

Might just need to have some cowboy come in and rope them.  That would make it so much easier to relocate them.  Heck, you could even send them to me.  I'm sure they'd love living on my 150+ acres.

Here they don't tend to like the local shrubbery.  I've seen them eat leaves and stems off brad leafed plants, beechnuts, acorns and various berries.

Sometimes I hear people near the woods complaining that they eat their bushes. Not sure if people just like to complain.

A quick look on the University of Florida Agriculture site reveals this:

A mixture of hot sauce, garlic powder, liquid dish soap, and water sprayed on bushes keeps deer away. Other scents they don't like are mint, oregano, sage, and thyme. Add these to your garden to repel deer.

Really nice!

Ugh, I don’t think I’d buy a house so close to the wetlands. My backyard would be muddy all year round. Especially if there’s not enough sun and warm.
