Departing from my camp site in Swellendam I made off to Heidelberg for a breakfast.
From there on to the Garcia pass (one of my favourites) for some aerial footage and to check my old hidden campsite.By then it was rather hot and I made the mistake of not having any liquid refreshment. I made another mistake by electing to make for Ladismith which is not a very interesting road. On arrival I was as parched as an old newspaper-drank 750ml of cold water in one gulp- steam breaking on my brow.
Pressed on to the settlement of Zoar and the turnoff for the dirt road to the Seweweekspoort. I hope they never tar this road- it will lose all it's charm.
I stopped at the Tierkloof dam where legend has it mermaids are to be found. I have slept there on several occasions but have never encountered a single mermaid or even a married one.
In the heat of the day the running water was very inviting.
next back to Zoar and Calitzdorp andthe Huisriver pass and then the worst part of the trip - to Oudtshoorn.
Actually not, the ground leading to the dam wall is relatively flat in that one can get there on a motorcycle. Those steps on the wall are just an uncomfortable height, not the size of ordinary stairs and just in front of the wall is a flat concrete platform where I, some years ago parked my motorcycle and slept in a bivi bag.

More stunning scenery. Breakfast - most important meal of the day on a long journey Lovely endscene - feet in the cool water
Believe me it was HOT that day, would have preferred a dip in the dam among the non-existent mermaids

Music by kind consent of our friend Peter the Monty -I am not fond of the arid landscape but am glad you liked it Downtown.
Just nice to see some variance in landscape. Here it is all flat, sandy land or beaches. Kudos to Peter for the music.

But wait for day 4 - forests and mountains on the menu
Yep Peter makes some goods sounds - and it looks like he enjoys doing it too - good for him.

Sounds like you started that day with a swim then.
