Hey guys,

I'm really keen on the new goggles and controller that the new avata 2 comes with, in fact I wouldn't mind getting the avata 2 fly more combo, but my idea in the near future would be upgrading my current analog quads to air unit o3.

Does anyone knows if dji has any plans of making the controller and goggles compatible with the current o3 air u it? Or only the goggles 2, integra and v2 are going to be compatible with the air unit?

This is the only thing that is preventing me from pulling the trigger on the avata 2 now... as I don't want to have to get separated goggles and controller for the air units

Cheers,
Dan

Thanks Tony,

I was waiting for the avata 2 to get into the digital FPV, new googles, new controller, new drone, it would be really nice if I could just get the air unit for my other drones and use the same goggles and controller as the avata 2.

But if that's not going to work, I might have to give the avata 2 a miss as it will become too $$$ to have to buy 2 sets of googles and controllers for the air unit.

One of the main reasons I'm considering the avata 2 even tho I have other drones it's the flight time and the better camera, which will eliminate the GoPro setup on my other drones.

So yes it's really high on my list, but I need the air unit compatibility, unless there is an o4 air unit coming up soon... then it's fine... as I'll get that for my drones.

Cheers
Dan

Pretty sure this is a request from every FPV pilot out there that has custom builds with the 03 air unit. Please make this happen DJI!

Doesn't look promising... DJI has been absolutely quiet about this... I have 6 analog drones atm and I've been itching to go digital with O3, the avata2 with the new googles and controller was going to be the perfect option for it. Yes not just the googles and controller, the avata 2 has the flight time that no other of my drones have, so yeah I'd definitely get the full setup with the avata also.

But not until O3 is supported or O4 comes out...

I'm on the same boat. Any news on the goggles v3 compatibility with O3 or, O4 being released so they start making it an option on new drones?

I also just bought an Avatar 2 in the full package. I'm also waiting for O3 to be compatible with the Goggles 3 and the controller or an O4 unit so that I can then build a custom drone. It would be nice to be kept up to date a little bit here. Is there any news on the topic?

This is one thing I hate about DJI, the lack of backward compatibility, I know they can do it, even goggles v1 can talk to o3, but instead of supporting their loyal users, they make it harder for us to keep upgrading our things. Imagine how many new goggles and controllers they would sell if they released the goggles with full backwards compatibility, everyone with o3 units would be upgrading their goggles to the new one.

It's getting to a point where I'm starting to look at the Cadix setup, everything they release is compatible with everything they released in the past.

Imagine if Apple released a new iPhone every year but the iPhone is not compatible with Airpods, or your Mac, or iPad, would you consider upgrading your phone then?

DJI need to learn some marketing principles, and understand that loyal customers are more important than new customers,

Thank you Tony for the standard DJI support reply:
"Thanks, I'll make sure to pass your feedback to the team that doesn't care..."

If we got a dollar for every time one of the DJI team guys replies the same thing on this forum, we would probably have enough money to buy DJI and tell the R&D team to enable backwards compatibility.

How about putting the money where your mouth is and releasing a firmware update that enables backwards compatibility with O3.

Just waiting for you guys to release the 04 unit or backwards Compatibility. If this is something that is not going to happen, can you please let the community know as I noticed that the goggles are now backwards compatible. Just not this controller. Which isn’t a problem I can buy another controller. I just need a confirmation on witch way to
Go.

I was searching about this subject, also. unlike most people here, I am new to the fpv world and started with the Avata 2. But, as I am gradually getting better at piloting in reality and simulations, started looking for a 5'' freestyles with O3.

I have about 17 quads with 03 and had hoped the Goggles 3 would be backwards compatible by now (I purchased the Avata2 Fly more combo).  I will be pretty annoyed if I have to replace all the 03 units with 04 when it gets released.  That's financially way too burdensome, so it would be amazing if DJI would make the Goggles 3 backwards compatible with 03.

That is the only reason I haven't pulled the pin on buying the Avata 2. I don't want to keep throwing my money at a company that doesn't support loyal customers.

I'd love to downsize my kit from Goggles V2 to Goggles 3, but I'm not ready to have to carry both goggles because of a lack of compatibility.

Tony we all are anxiously waiting for DJi to simply support the o3 unit with their Goggles 3…. Many of us have several drones and goggles, it would be very helpful and beneficial to DJI to support this software update. It would also allow for other DJI products to be implemented and supported through other projects and services

I consider it a shame that the Goggles 3 are not compatible with the Air Unit O3, since it is currently their video module on sale, what you should have done is make it compatible before releasing an incomplete product on the market.

Unfortunately I thought it was obvious that the Dji Google 3 was compatible with the Dji O3 air unit but now realize that it is not, bought an iFlight Chrimera 7 pro v2 TBS with the O3 Air unit and now understand that it will not work... of course it's my responsibility to check that. However, it felt totally unnecessary to do so in this case, but no.

As so many others write here, it would be good to speed up the process to get out an update that fixes the compatibility between Dji Google 3, the alternative is to send everything back...

Bumping this thread because what the hell, still no updates??? no information??? why should it be so difficult to implement 03 compatibility. Can we please have some solid information if this will actually happen or not. Im tired of this beating around the bush "going to forward to relevant teams" etc. Can we get a simple yes or no?

I'm in your situation. I already have the V2, but I find them huge nowadays. I also have the Walksnail Goggles X and their case takes me just half of that of the V2. So you can understand that it means transporting both in the backpack. I've already bought the G3 case and it's small as the GX one. So, when they decide to make them compatible, with the same space occupied by the current V2, I would have both the G3 and the GX.
I could get the G2 or the Integra, but I tried them both and I don't like them. The lenses start immediately to fog up on the Integra, or blurred edges of the G2, I wonder why throw money at them when there are new ones that seem to solve these problems.
In the meantime I'm buying more and more VTXs Walksnail. Precisely because the Goggles take up much less space and are more transportable. But does DJI really think you'll buy me that disgusting Avata 2? They are waiting for sales to reach a certain milestone before releasing backward compatibility. Losing opportunities and customers though.
