The railway signal box at New Mills South has been supported by scaffolding for a couple of years, due to subsidence.
A couple of months of restoration work are now complete - underpinning, new drains and septic tank.
In a few months from now, the scarred earth around it will have greened up again, leaving little trace.

Great shot Mr. B.    Will be nice when mother nature reclaims the scarred earth and turns it green once again.

I got some bo-nus footage whilst I was flying around the box.

You got to love when you can pick up some bo-nus footage during an outing.  I'll keep an eye out for your posting.

We have some modern ones, but they are clustered and replace a lot of the old ones.

I think the electrified lines are the ones with automated boxes.
The lines through here are all diesel.

Not that particular one. But I saw one a while ago where the guy actually flew THROUGH open box cars as the train was hurtling along. Astonishing acrobatics.

I don't live anywhere near a train track but I guess I could try and check the schedule and see when they run.  Closest place would be about 55 miles away.

From what I have seen (and experienced) there is still a lot of good freight trains around there (ok, that is a big big big country, so big chance not where you live).
Which area do you live in?

Southern Florida near the Everglades.  Trains don't run through or near the Everglades.  Probably think they sink or never return.  The Everglades have a somewhat Bermuda Triangle mystique about them.

So was this

Seems they stopped using rail around 2019 here

However, this site seems to be in use.

And this one too

But a lot was removed already. Too bad.

OMG, that was some epic, exhilarating and crazy flying.  I loved it when the train's engineer peekd out and saw the drone and then shut his window.  Flying under the train was spectacular.  That's is one of the longest trains I've seen.  No doubt he used up a whole battery on that flight.
