In the googles there is a square with an arrow (in a red circle)

in the manual, there isn't one
Does anyone know what is it?  

i tried to investigate myself with no luck - it definitely Not showing the home point, I was thinking North But No it isn't... Go figure

Ah and this message about dynamic safety DB is always ON I updated everything connected the goggles to the fly app - nothing more and to assistant again no updates but the message remains

Mine is showing this arrow too and i have really no clue what it means!

Well, obviously this is some Top Secret DJI feature as no one knows what it is

Have you tried this with head tracking to see how it changes?  The box looks like the same box you get when using MC1 with FPV1.

No, i never use head tracking as i use rc 3, besides for unknow reasons but I keep my head up and to the right whyle flying

I think I remember you mentioned you don't use manual mode, so are you using RC3 strictly in sport mode?

Same here, my head is at a weird angle but that gets corrected right away when I go into head tracking; you quickly realize you gotta straighten up.

Hi there. Thank you for the feedback. Do you have any video showing the operation for us to further check? Can you please also confirm which RC were you using with the Avata 2? Kindly provide as well the drone, goggles 3, and RC's firmware version. We will wait for your update. Thank you.

i see this on a lot of video's, but can't make out what it does....

i would think it points to home, but it does not. It also does not show north as other youtubers already tested and confirmed that.

It's definitely aircraft compass, mine correctly shows north. Maybe try calibrating your compass, even if its status is green?

I can assure you that:
- is not the drone's compass;- It's not pointing north;
- It's not indicating the direction of the aircraft;
- it's not showing the home point;
- it's not the direction in which the drone is heading;
- Nobody in DJI is knows what is the triangle pointing!!!

It will be very useful if is show us the same that we have on others DJI products, like this picture, showing the position of the drone relative to our position.

I don't know what to tell you, the one time I paid attention to it, it behaved 100% exactly as aircraft compass, showing true magnetic north (compared to my phone's compass it matched 1:1). I'll try to do some more testing.

were you facing north at the time?  i just don't see what good it would do to post a big arrow in the screen taking up real estate showing you which way is north on an fpv drone, for what purpose?

I powered it on facing west roughly, and the arrow was pointing to the right and as I picked the aircraft up and turned it around it seemed to point to the north correctly. I don't know, whatever it is tbh I wouldn't mind being able to turn it off

Ok I gave it a few more tries. I'm indoors and get zero gps satellites, but the compass definitely seems on point - I was comparing it to my iPhone and it seems to be maybe 4 degrees off at worst. But when the Avata points north, arrow is always pointing to the top of the box, no matter in what way it or the goggles are facing when I power them on.

And I would think it is more accurate to describe the arrow as showing which way the drone is traveling towards rather than which way it is pointing, no?  When you twirl the drone around in circles during hovering, does the arrow rotate as well?  If so, that's pretty useless.

Yeah, it shows where the camera is pointing, with the box being a fixed frame where its top middle is north. So yeah, image in post #2 would be NW, or NNW more precisely.
