A strange vehicle in which to make the Supermarket run.
Seen in the Co-op carpark this afternoon during the trolley-dash.
The Pocket2 was, as always, on hand to catch a snap.

Spectacular find Mr. B.  What an amazing steam powered vehicle!    Is that a replica or just one in fantastic shape?  I'm thinking it would be a bumpy and long ride home from the supermarket.

Got to love having the OP2 handy.

It's an original, belonging to the Local Council since forever

Thanks. Spotted it quite by chance. It doesn't appear to have a "boot" or storage locker for the weekly shop

Nice, I've seen a few similar working machines in western Canada.  They were used as farm tractors in the early 1900s.

Spotting it was just Serendipity. We has no idea it would be there.

Thanks It was quite by chance that we spotted it.
There are quite a few preserved examples around the UK.
Every so often there are Steam Rallies, where they all congregate.

Thats what I thought would have happened,   but sometimes the older northern towns hang on to old titles.

We went to a farmers market that had one on display and running,  we also had no idea it would be there.

There are a number of Steam Rallies each year at which they all seem to congregate, but I don't know of one around here in the immediate future.

Such events are very popular. I went early to the one at Buxworth Canal Basin last year, and got a few images, which I posted. I should maybe have gone later in the day, but then the crowds would have got in the way

What was the one you saw there doing,  some sort of advertising or fund raising?

I must confess I didn't ask. There was a group in deep discussion behind it, so I didn't interrupt.
Then other supermarket customers began to gather round to take photos, so I withdrew.

I found that one listed as a Steam Roller so perhaps it was there to fix the carpark for the Co-OP.

Yes it does have the roller front axle, and a part of the car-park has been re-tarmaced recently

Sounds like he might have been Navy trained.  They have a saying:  If it's brass polish it, if not paint it.

I still remember my first Commanding Officer telling the ship's crew if you don't polish brass every single day, it will tarnish, and it starts to tarnish immediately. Polishing the brass every day was also reflective of the larger philosophy of the ship to consistently take care of the little things.

Over the years I learned it's a good lesson for all of us, too. What are we doing to polish our brass every single day? What little things are we doing to get better every single day?   Just like brass, the minute we stop looking for ways to improve, we're going to tarnish.  But if we consistently make a small effort to improve over time, we'll stay shiny and ready for what's ahead.

I'm thinking about getting an acoustic drum set.  The electronic drum set works great for practice but I think I'm ready to make some real noise with an acoustic drum set.  I'm currently ooking at this one in particular.  Next time you see you drum-playing daughter please see if she thinks this is a good set.

Dang, bad timing on my part.  I'd be interested in hearing her input on that set.  They advertise it as a mid-line set but reviews are 4.8 out of 5 so I'm thinking it is a good set.  I don't need a high-end set for sure.
