Because of high prices for DJI spare batteries I bought a 3,850 mAh battery from AliExpress, which has worked absolutely fine up until today giving me long duration flights, but since I made the Firmware update today it won't even allow me to take-off as the Contoller recognises it as a non-DJI battery.
I believe this is very heavy-handed of DJI in preventing non-DJI batteries being used, and smacks somewhat of "Restricted Practice".
What other manufacturer prevents batteries other than their own being used in products? Your Car? Your phone? Your eBike? other household electric products?
No . . you can use any Manufacturers compatible replacement.
This battery has become worthless now, unless it will still work in a DJI Mini 3 Pro, which maybe doesn't have the same sophistication.
I hope "someone" from DJI gives a very good reason for doing this, and compensates me for my loss, as the battery has been perfect up until today, when being flown in the over 250 gram category with my relevant A2-CofC drone quaifications.
I wonder what DJI will think of next?
Maybe in future DJI programmers will find a way of recognising that Master Airscrew propellors are fitted, or non-DJI filters on the camera, or any other non-DJI add-ons.
Who knows?

Hi there,
thank you for reaching out.

I own a dji mini 3 pro. I tried several times to get a label through the application from the menu service / Cx label Request, but I get a message that a Cx label is not required for my drone.

Hi there,
thank you for reaching out.

Dear customer, please rest assured that your drone can fly compliantly in A1 and A3 environments and does not need to apply for Cx label.

We appreciate your kind understanding. Thank you.

Hi there,
thank you for reaching out.

I understood that, but everyone on the forum claims that because of the laws in Europe, you took the measures for the heavier batteries. if the label is not the problem, then fix my batteries!

Hi there,
thank you for reaching out.

We apologize for the inconvenience. Can you please confirm if you have tried using a different battery? Additionally, you may download the DJI Assistant 2 software on your computer, insert the battery into the aircraft body, connect it to the computer, and refresh the firmware to check.

Please keep us posted. Thank you.

I have the same problem with a non-DJI battery that has worked fine, but is now being rejected by the latest software that is preventing me from taking off with this battery. I have just come off a DJI support chat with someone called Jack. Here is an excerpt from the chat: Me: “ so you are essentially telling me that my battery can no longer be used and is now worthless? Jack’s answer: “ Yes, do not use non-DJI battery to avoid any technical trouble”

Hi there,
thank you for reaching out.

I have already gone through all possible steps described in all possible threads. I have a proposal for the DJI company: Tell yourself the truth that you generate financial losses from drone users using third-party batteries, in exchange for that I will stop complaining on the forum. And don't push the version that you care about the strength of my drone, since it is clear from the attached links that I cannot buy an original battery. Four months ago, I was looking for original batteries for almost a month and even yesterday I asked in the licensed store, but there are no batteries.

This wouldn't be a problem if DJI didn't charge a ungodly amount for their batteries. I mean after all we paid over $1000 for their product they should take care of their loyal costumers.

But props are ok they wouldn't cause the drone to drop out of the sky? LOL!!!  Its all about greed someone else can sell us the same battery for less and they don't like it.

I think if they could detect that the wrong props were fitted they would also generate an error too.

Since today I started having the same problem. Just after finishing my update all free batteries plus from AliExpress stopped working.
Same problem for all 3! Just after finishing my update all three batteries plus from AliExpress stopped working ! Miraculously after update and ALL 3!
Patient: Mini 4 Pro.
The small battery DJI allows updating software. The Batteries plus that I got from Aliexpress stop update between 32-33% both via Controller and via Assistant.
Can someone from DJI solve the problem?

A survey would make no difference,   its a requirement for the C classification in EU that non OEM parts remove the classification.

Whatever the reason, the user and owner of the drone should be able to do whatever they want with it, even if it could have negative consequences. But what cannot be done is to eliminate compatibility with spare parts from other manufacturers and especially when DJI does not sell plus batteries in Europe.

This is super frustrating. It's obvious DJI is using their batteries as a profit source. The argument of ensuring quality is just PR nonsense. People wouldn't be looking for other batteries if DJI sold these at a reasonable price in the first place.

If DJI had this feature to block flight from the beginning, none of the aftermarket manufacturers would have been successful in the first place. All this change does is create a huge headache for customers who have never had any ill intent towards DJI.

Thankfully the aftermarket battery I purchased is still within its return period. This definitely makes me hate DJI as a company.

As seen The DJIs don't give a care about their customers and I am nearly sure, it was intended by DJI to prevent DJI drones owners using third part batteries... I own mini 4 pro and neo and I have intended to buty another drone Mavic and osmo 5 action camera with accessories. Now in this case, after bad experience and loosing trust to DJI I need reconsider my purchase intention again....

Same problem here. non-dji-battery for my mini 4 pro. After the last update it cannot take off.   My mini 4 pro is C1, so the extra weight is not a problem and I have al the needed certificates for flying drones that are over 250 grams. It worked fine before the update.

hi @dji natalia I know that using the original battery is the best practice, but I'm from Europe and I can't buy the battery plus battery because of the weight. (the drone will get over 250 grams) I changed my drone frome C0 to C1 so it's not a concern for me.  But as said, I can not by the plus battery.

do you have a solution for that?

Hi there,
thank you for reaching out.

Hi Diana, I want to report the same issue and after cross check with other DJI MINI 4 PRO we see that the batteries are still working PERFECTLY with MINI 4 PRO with software .500.

The recently released software 700 and 800 BLOCKS the ALIEXPRESS BATTERIES.

Please provide the alternative software to downgrade back to .500 or version that is installable on 3rd party batteries.

I intentionally changed class to C1 to fly them legally... now they are useless not because of batteries themselves, but because of the firmware DJI released for mini 4 pro drones.

The batteries plus in Europe are not accessible as you should know.

Secondly the aliexpress Batteries Plus ARE still working in Mini 4 Pro of users that avoid updating DJI firmware - now I know why people are afraid to update DJI products since new firmware brings more hassle than good.

When will the problem be solved ? .700 and 800 is not working with batteries PLUS.

WHOEVER IS THINKING OF UPDATING FIRMWARE FROM .500 to higher - DON'T! IT WILL BLOCK YOUR BATTERIES and you will stay with poor small capacity batteries by DJI.

They would work with version 500 of firmware. Unfortunatelly DJI service goes downhill and discourage users ..

I was thinking of buying Avata 2 as my 2nd drone, but after having so big problems with MINI 4 Pro firmware that started blocking batteries plus and actually I wasted money,
I am considering Cetus or other FPV now and definitely stopped encouraging people to buy DJI drones telling my story with DJI firmware that blocks AliExpress additional batteries that are still working in MINI 4 but lower FIRMWARE.

Are you saying that also DJI Batteries Plus were blocked by that last s*tty firmware release!? Jeeeeezzzz , I thought only batteries plus by Aliexpress were blocked!

I feel pi*sed and disappointed. With that crappy small battery that gives max 15 min of proper flight I even cannot record good timelapse. I feel so disappointed with Mini 4 right now.

I have upggraded my drone to C1 and I have the the remote pilot certificate of competency A1/A2 and A2.  So it would by legal to have this battery. (From DJI or not)

But, just had a long conversartion on the dji support chat.
Based on our checking, European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) did not allow the sales of Battery Plus in your region

So I contacted EASA over this issue.  Because, even if I want to buy original plus batteries, I cannot due to this regulations.
